SUARA INDONESIA, SIDOARJO – Residents of Ganggang Panjang Village, Tanggulangin District, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java, were shocked by a stabbing incident on Monday (29/7/2024) night.
Eko, a local man, was critically injured after allegedly being stabbed by his neighbor with a sword. The cause is suspected to be a quarrel between the perpetrator’s child and the victim’s child.
“Indeed, around 6:15 pm, there was a commotion near the mosque,” said Mansur, a local resident when interviewed by the media.
From the information gathered, the incident started when the perpetrator’s child and the victim’s child quarreled around the perpetrator’s house.
“Fortunately, the incident was quickly known by the residents and the victim immediately received help,” he said.
The victim’s child then reported to his father, Eko, who had just returned from work. Eko then went to the perpetrator’s house to ask for an explanation, but an argument broke out.
When the situation heated up, according to Syaiful, a local resident, the perpetrator quickly took a sword from inside the house and slashed Eko’s left hand almost to the point of severing it.
“The victim blocked with his left hand when the perpetrator wanted to slash him with the sword,” he said.
Seeing the incident, the local residents who witnessed it immediately intervened and helped the victim, who was then taken to RS Pusdik Bhayangkara Porong.
“However, the information is that the victim Eko was referred to RSUD RT Notopuro Sidoarjo, because RS Bhayangkara Porong could not accept him,” said Syaiful.
After slashing his neighbor, the perpetrator is currently on the run. However, on the other hand, it is known that the perpetrator is a recidivist in a drug case.
“The victim is my neighbor, with his child still in elementary school. I knew about the incident when I returned from work,” explained Syaiful.
Meanwhile, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Tanggulangin Police, Ipda Abdul Haris, when confirmed, said that they are currently pursuing the perpetrator, and the information is also based on information from residents.
“Currently we are conducting an investigation at the crime scene. The perpetrator who is on the run is being pursued,” he concluded. (*)
