So, what are the indicators of progress and prosperity that must be achieved for us to succeed in becoming a developed and prosperous nation?

In June 2023, President Jokowi and the Minister of National Development Planning detailed these in the final draft of the National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) for 2025-2045.

The “Golden Indonesia” RPJPN outlines five key indicators that must be met by, or before, the year 2045:

  1. Per capita income on par with developed nations.
  2. Poverty approaching 0% and reduced inequality.
  3. Enhanced leadership and global influence.
  4. Improved competitiveness of human resources.
  5. Reduced Greenhouse Gas (GHG) intensity, moving towards Net Zero Emissions.

I fully agree with these five established targets. In my view, these are the goals we must strive for. All of Indonesia’s energy, thought, and resources should be directed towards achieving these five targets.
